Brig. Gen. William Cooley, meanwhile, will become commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, also headquartered at Wright-Patterson, the post McMurry is vacating.

Murry will replace Lt. Gen. John F. Thompson in the post as AFLCMC leader. Thompson will become the commander of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif.
The Life Cycle Management Center is responsible fro the developing, test and purchase of Air Force weapon systems and has a workforce of about 26,000 around the world, about half of whom work at Wright-Patterson.
AFRL develops cutting-edge technology, has more than 6,000 scientists and engineers and a budget of more than $4 billion.
The change of command ceremony is scheduled Tuesday at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
