DAYTON —
Dayton Children’s Medical Center is participating today in #GivingTuesday, a new effort that will use the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals to “transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.”
Taking place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is using social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday are days associated with holiday shopping.
All money raised on #GivingTuesday by Dayton Children’s will go toward the pediatric cancer and blood disorders endowment fund, which was created to further improve an already family-focused cancer care program that will connect patients with multiple resources related to care, treatment, education, support groups and more.
On #GivingTuesday, Dayton Children’s is releasing a video titled “The World of Hope,” featuring four local cancer patients: Kayleigh Crabtree of Beavercreek, Evan Fletcher of Dayton, Nathan McDermott of Arcanum and Zach Meredith of Springboro. The video shows how children use their imaginations to cope with having cancer, and will showcase the team of people at Dayton Children’s that help these kids.
