Huntington Bank customers hit with double debit charges

Huntington National Bank customers may have been double-charged for debit card and ATM transactions, according to a recorded message Wednesday on the company’s customer service phone line.

The recording said debit card and ATM transactions were inadvertently double-posted to some accounts Tuesday night. The transactions were limited to the weekend and Monday account activity.

The error will affect customer account balances in the short term, but available balances will be corrected today and any fees related to the error will be waived, the recording said.

“We are proactively reaching out to our customers to let them know we are aware of and addressing the issue. We are working to correct impacted customer balances today and will waive any related fees,” the Columbus-based bank said in a statement.

Huntington Bank has retail branch locations at 2401 Far Hills Ave. in Oakwood; 3333 Princeton Road in Hamilton; and 5 West North St. and 1175 N. Bechtle Ave. in Springfield. The bank also has numerous ATMs throughout the region.
