8 hot cars at the Dayton Auto Show

Gleaming under the lights at the 2018 Dayton Auto Show, which opened today at the Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. Fifth St., are several hundred high-tech cars, family-friendly minivans and crossovers, rugged trucks and plush luxury vehicles, plus multiple attractions.

You’ll see not only great vehicles but may win something worth upwards of $9,500, plus possibly T-shirts, trinkets and gift cards for gas and merchandise from various contests.

The event is presented by the Dayton Area Auto Dealers Association. Show sponsors are the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, Miami Valley Chevy Dealers and Dayton Area Toyota Dealers.

Here are eight hot cars at the Dayton Auto Show:

1. Corvette Grand Sport Coupe

Lighting up the Dayton Auto Show in Torch Red is the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Coupe, with an MSRP of more than $73,000.

2. Chevrolet Equinox LT

The 2018 Dayton Auto Show is offering the chance to win a grand prize of a two-year lease on a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox LT, courtesy of the Miami Valley Chevrolet Dealers. The lease has an approximate value of $9,500, Dayton Auto Show organizers say. Entries are being accepted at the show through 1 p.m.

3. Cadillac ATS-V Coupe

This 2018 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Championship Edition, with an MSRP of $81,480 is one of only 200 manufactured. Its purchase includes two days of all-inclusive instruction at the V Series Academy in Nevada.

4. Chevrolet Bolt & Volt

The Chevrolet Bolt, left, and Volt are two of the many hybrids at the 2018 Dayton Auto Show.

5. Honda Civic Type R

Car and Driver has placed the Honda Civic Type R on its 2018 10Best Cars list for its mix of performance and poise. The lone powertrain is a turbo 2.0-liter inline-four that funnels 306 horsepower to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

6. Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

American muscle? Here’s the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

7. Toyota Camry

The eighth-generation, all-new Toyota Camry occupies a special place of its own on the Dayton Auto Show floor.

8. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Adding an Italian note to the Dayton Auto Show floor is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. A Ferrari-derived 505-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 drives the rear wheels; an eight-speed automatic is the only available transmission.
