George Zimmerman's wife files for divorce

George Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, has filed for divorce, according to WFTV-TV.

Shellie Zimmerman filed the divorce papers at the Seminole County Courthouse.

Last week, Shellie opened up a bit about her relationship with her husband while on "Good Morning America."

On the show, Shellie said she wasn't sure if she'd continue her relationship with George, who was acquitted of murder charges in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Last month, Shellie pleaded guilty to misdemeanor perjury instead of the felony count she was facing for lying to a judge last year about money in a defense fund for her husband. She was sentenced to probation and community service.

After her sentencing, Zimmerman opened up in her appearance on GMA, saying she was going to have to "think about" whether she stays married to George.

Shellie said she can't explain what was going through George's head the night of the shooting, because she wasn't home that evening.

"I was staying at my father's house. We had gotten into an argument the night before and I left," she said.

She stuck by her husband, even as the death threats came and they were forced to live in hiding.

"We have been pretty much gypsies for the past year and a half. We've lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods, scared every night that someone was going to find us and that we'd be out in the woods alone and that it would be horrific," she said.
