MECHANICSBURG — Mechanicsburg’s new superintendent hasn’t been on the job long, but he’s already working hard to raise the national profile of his district.
Bobby Moore, who is working in his first year as district superintendent, has written a book focusing on how educational leaders can bring about positive change.
He offered some insights from the book at the National Middle School Association Conference in Indianapolis earlier this month. He is also planning to speak at a national conference in San Antonio in the spring.
The book, “Inspire, Motivate, Collaborate,” was published last spring, Moore said. It largely focuses on how educational leaders can bring about change and work effectively and fairly with employees who may be initially reluctant.
In the long run, the goal is to discuss how to create an effective school district that is better organized. The key, he said, is persistence and patience. He said administrators also need to be supportive of their staff during times of change.
“It’s about being empathetic but also staying attentive to the task at hand,” Moore said.
Ultimately, the appearances will help boost Mechanicsburg’s profile across the region, he said.
“The school district I came from was nationally recognized and a lot of the exposure came from me speaking all over the country,” Moore said.
Moore had previously worked in the Jonathan Alder Local School District in Plain City. He took over for Mike Nutter, who left the district to take a job with the Green Local School District in Summit County.
Moore also noted that he doesn’t just go to the conferences to speak.
“When I go to these places I go as a learner too,” he said.
