SPRINGFIELD —

The Clark State Performing Arts Center has booked another bonafide country music legend for a show later this year.

Unfortunately, they’re not saying who just yet.

But, for all anybody knows, Lee Brice will be that legend in another 20 years. For right now, Clark State has announced that the rising country star will play Kuss Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

He’s well on his way.

“I’m pretty sure listeners to K99 know who Lee Brice is,” said Stuart Secttor, the center’s executive director.

Brice made a name for himself a couple of years ago with “Love Like Crazy,” the most-played country song of 2010, as determined by Billboard magazine.

He released his second album, “Hard 2 Love,” this spring on Curb Records. The album’s first single, “A Woman Like You,” was another sizable hit for the South Carolina native.

Tickets for Brice’s local show will be priced from $12 to $30, and will go on sale Aug. 15, first in person at 10 a.m., then online at noon at pac.clarkstate.edu. Call (937) 328-3874 for more information.

“If you want to see an up-and-coming country star, it’s a pretty good deal,” Secttor said. “Lee Brice has had two hits that have done really well.”

His current single is “Hard to Love.”

Brice, who played the Clark County Fair in 2011, got his start as a songwriter, co-writing “More Than a Memory” for Garth Brooks and “Crazy Girl” for the Eli Young Band.

Both went to No. 1, with Billboard deeming “Crazy Girl” the most popular country song of 2011.
