YELLOW SPRINGS —

The Glen Helen Association has put out a call for entries for its seventh annual juried Member’s Art Show. Works in watercolor, photography, paint, ceramics and sculpture will be accepted between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Vernay Ecological Center, 405 Corry St., Yellow Springs.

Alice Robrish, Art Show committee member, said that artists who are not current Glen Helen Association members can purchase a membership for $40 when dropping off their work.

Selected artwork will be on display at the Glen Helen Atrium Gallery from Sunday, Jan. 13, through Feb. 27. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 20. Pieces will be available for sale.

The exhibition juror is nationally known artist and curator, Willis “Bing” Davis of Dayton. Davis will be selecting work for a Best of Show award, and two Merit Awards, one for professional artists and one for amateurs. Each award carries a $100 prize. The awards will be announced at 3 p.m. during the Jan. 20 reception.

“Artists can enter up to three pieces,” Robrish said. “One piece is guaranteed to be included, and additional pieces will be used as space permits.” The maximum dimensions for submissions are 20-inches-by-30-inches. All wall-hung artwork must be mounted or framed and ready to hang. Sculptors must supply a pedestal for their work.

“This event is a fundraiser for the Glen Helen Association,” Robrish said. “Thirty percent of the price of items sold during the exhibit will be donated to support the Association.”

The Glen Helen Atrium Gallery showcases the work of local and regional visual artists in six exhibits each year. The Glen Helen Association is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support preservation and programs at Glen Helen and its 1,000-acre nature preserve.
