In most arts, you get to see just the end product. This weekend, the Gary Geis Dance Company will let you glimpse its art in progress.

The Winter In-Studio Concert Series will be presented this Friday through Sunday at the Gary Geis School of Dance Studio 4, located on the second floor of Bushnell Building in Springfield.

The event will preview works in progress from the company’s jazz, ballet and tap programs. The Gary Geis Dance Company is known for bringing its audience a diverse range of dance styles incorporating the music of classical artists and pop icons.

The weekend shows will feature dances set to the music of artists including Yo Yo Ma, Saint-Saens, Beyonce, The Gypsy Rhumba Orchestra, The Funeral Suits and more.

Consider this to be a sample of things of what to expect on March 30 when the company presents its gala bi-annual collaborative concert, Dance for Four at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.

Dance for Four will feature the best of the Miami Valley’s pre-professional companies and ensembles including Wright State University Dance Ensemble, Gem City Ballet and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II, in addition to the Gary Geis Dance Company.

While the school provides professional training for young dancers, it will also feature the joy dance can bring to all ages when the company’s senior tap ensemble, Steppin’ Out, will premiere a new work.
