Cedar Point has more roller coasters than Kings Island, but Kings Island has just as much to offer. Here’s a breakdown that compares the two.

Kings Island

  • Adult admission: The online price is $36.99, to purchase at the gate is $53.99
  • Child admission: $32
  • Parking: $12
  • Opens: April 28
  • Daily operation begins: May 11
  • Closes: Oct. 28
  • Hours of operation: Varies. In the spring, outside of Saturdays, the park closes at 8 p.m. In the fall, it closes at 7 p.m. Sundays. Check the website for details of the date you plan to visit.
  • Number of roller coasters: 14
  • Total number of rides: 46
  • New this year: A $10 million expansion and redesign of the water park now named Soak City. Soak City opens May 26 and is included with park admission.
  • Food: Plenty of food options are available in all areas of the park, including a “taste of Cincinnati” with LaRosa’s Pizza, Skyline Chili and Graeter’s Ice Cream. The park is also known for its blue ice cream. New menu items this year include fresh, never frozen, hamburgers in four locations, gluten-free pizza at LaRosa’s on International Street, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos, Philly cheese steaks and new ice cream treats in Planet Snoopy.

  • New this year: New this summer will be Dinosaurs Alive! on Adventure Island, a prehistoric-themed attraction that will be located on the wooded island that sits on the lagoons in the middle of the park. Like Kings Island, this attraction will cost an additional $5 per person.
  • Food: Cedar Point features quick service locations, full-service restaurants and specialty carts and wagons inside the amusement park. Food locations can also be found in the Hotel Breakers; Sandcastle Suites; Castaway Bay; at Cedar Point Marina; Challenge Park and Soak City.
