URBANA — Voters chose Kerry Brugger to represent them on city council, and two incumbents were selected to serve as at-large council members in the Tuesday, Nov. 3, election.
According to final, unofficial results, Brugger defeated his opponent, Douglas Hoffman, 463 to 245.
“I wish him well and congratulate him on a well-run race, Brugger said.
It was the first time either candidate had ever run in an election, and Brugger said he would try to work with the administration and other council members to move the city in the right direction.
Brugger worked hard to meet as many people as possible throughout his campaign, he said.
The at-large race included Bill Bean and Robert Thorpe, both incumbents, against Anthony Ehresmann, who was running for the first time.
Final, unofficial results show Bean and Thorpe won the two available seats.
Bean received 1,524 votes while Thorpe received 1,191. Ehresmann received 960 votes.
“With the confidence they put in me, I’m going to do my best for the citizens of Urbana,” Bean said of the voters.
Thorpe said he believes his previous experience on council convinced voters he was the right candidate for the job.
