Two new members will join the Greenon Local Schools Board of Education, according to final, unofficial results from the Clark County Board of Elections.

But it appears the race was close enough to trigger an automatic recount.

Challenger Becky Hale won 1,524 of the votes cast in the Tuesday, Nov. 3, election, and incumbent Nelson Henning won 1,329, according to the board of elections.

Challenger Keith Culp is the third candidate elected with 1,320 votes; however, he is only 38 votes, or 0.4 percent, ahead of challenger David Ball. State law calls for an automatic recount if the votes are within .5 percent.

Incumbents Cynthia Boone and Anna Bucy, and challengers Alan Donaldson and Heidi Steinbrink lost.

Also:

• In Northwestern Local Schools, incumbents Donna Myers and Keith Baldwin were re-elected with 2,046 votes and 1,776 votes, respectively, along with 2009 Northwestern High School graduate Richard Birt Jr. with 2,015 votes. Incumbent Bruce Lemley and challenger Ben Fisher lost.

• Incumbents Dan Studebaker and Beverly Quinn will return to the Tecumseh Local Schools Board of Education, with 2,879 and 1,932 votes, respectively. With 2,018 votes, newcomer Mert Christmann will join them.

Challengers Marc Vlasic and Jim Snyder lost.

Southeastern Local Schools will see two new board members: District parent Tony Entler garnered 831 votes, and retired bus driver Frances Edwards won 806 votes. Challenger Darron Routzahn lost.

All three incumbents in Clark-Shawnee Local Schools won re-election. Dave Speas won 1,850 votes, Judith Pierce had 1,886 votes and David DeHart received 1,617. Challengers James Hogan and Thomas Markley lost.

Knight alum, what has Ms. Lytle done? I would like to know.

hey pleased, the moral is low because of football, not anything to do with our schools! amazing nobody complained about her until a bad football coach was released! the majority of kids do not play football. if you would have attended some of the board meetings you would have heard all the good things she has done with the little money this district gets! I hope she is around for a long time!

Concerned cititzen, if Lori Lytle knows what she is doing, why is staff morale so low and people complaing about the district more now than ever before? Ever since she arrived, the district has cut off almost all lines of communication with district residents. You are right, great school districts need not communicate with residents. On what planet do you live?

I was proud to say I was a member of this district until we let Hale get elected into office. All we can do is pray that Culp doesn't get in. This district does not need an idiot on the board. The current board was working fine and there was no need for change. You people asked for this change and I hope you are happy when things don't go your way. I will stand behind Lori Lytle 100% because she knows what she is doing and is great for this district.
