Voters approved a slate of renewal levies throughout Clark County, including one for the Clark County Mental Health and Recovery Board that the organization said was crucial for its future.
In final, unofficial results voters approved the Clark County Mental Health and Recovery Board renewal levy 25,701 to 11,978.
“We are very, very greatful for the citizens of Clark County for the strong support they’ve shown over the years,” said Kent Youngman, CEO of the Clark County Mental Health and Recovery Board. “This is an affirmation of the county’s support for and belief in strong mental health and drug and alcohol recovery services”
The 10-year renewal levy is a 1-mill levy and passage will not increase taxes to area property owners.
Most of the Clark County school levies were renewals - placed on the local ballots by boards of education who did not like the prospects of new levies that increase taxes during an economic downturn.
Voters responded, passing all the renewals.
Springfield’s school levy, a 7-mill renewal levy for current expenses, won approval 6,444 to 3,819.
“We’re extremely appreciative of the support of the Springfield community,” Superintendent David Estrop said, “This will allow us to maintain our momentum, to move forward and that is exactly what we are going to do.”
Tecumseh voters passed three renewal levies they faced:
A 2.656-mill renewal levy for emergency funding, was approved 3,255 to 1,732. Also a 4.417-mill renewal levy for emergency funding was approved 3,185 to 1,801 and a 4-mill renewal levy for improvements to facilities and equipment was approved 3,147 to 1,843.
Superintendent Jim Gay said he wasn’t sure if economic changes would affect the renewals.
“We were worried about it, considering the economy,” Gay said. “We’re very pleased at this point and time.”
Voters in the Southeastern Local School District approved, 900 to 588, a 3-mill renewal levy for facility improvement and equipment.
In the Cedar Cliff Local School District voters approved, 266 to 181, a 0.25-percent income tax for renovation and permanent improvements and a bond issue for local share to participate in the Ohio classroom assistance program.
Local township levies:
• A Bethel Twp. five-year, 1-mill renewal levy for police services was passed 2,468 to 1,014.
• A German Twp. five-year, 0.4-mill renewal levy for fire services passed 2,088 to 706.
• A Harmony Twp. five-year 2-mill renewal levy for fire service passed 853 to 414.
• A Madison Twp. five-year, 2-mill renewal levy for EMS passed 600 to 233.
• A Moorefield Twp. five-year, 1-mill road and bridge levy passed 3,505 to 1,767.
• A Pleasant Twp. five-year, 0.5-mill renewal levy for fire and EMS passed 750 to 297.
• A Springfield Twp. five-year, 0.5-mill ambulance levy passed 3,031 to 952.
