Deputy injured in foot pursuit of suspect

Clark County Sheriff Deputies received minor injuries today as they were chasing a man suspected of violating a protection order.

Around 12:30 p.m., deputies were called to the Swan Marathon Gas Station in the 3800 block of East Springfield Road to check on a vehicle that had been there for about six hours, according to authorities.

Deputies discovered a male occupant and a female occupant inside, and found that the female occupant had a protection order against the male. When deputies tried arresting the suspect, he ran away, according to reports.

As the suspect was running, he accidentally fell, and the deputies chasing him also fell and got into a scuffle, authorities said. One of the deputies sustained minor scrapes and bruises.

The suspect, who was not identified, was arrested for violating the protection order and obstructing official business.
