Urbana truck driver arrested for stealing fuel from farm

URBANA — URBANA — An Urbana truck driver was arrested today, March 17, and faces several misdemeanor charges after he was accused of stealing more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel from a local farm.

Shawn Andon, 39, of East Church Street, was arrested on one charge of theft, one charge of criminal trespass and two charges of possession of criminal tools. He was taken to the Tri-County Jail and will likely face an initial court date tomorrow, March 18.

Brent Emmons, Champaign County Sheriff, said Andon was arrested after he was accused of stealing about 130 gallons of diesel fuel from a farm on Urbana Moorefield Road around 2 a.m.

Emmons said he was arrested later that afternoon when he returned to the farm after making a delivery to Michigan.
