SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Three men were arrested Thursday, Feb. 4, after items were reported stolen from an auto parts business in Springfield Twp.
According to information from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Gary D. Welty, 32, of 75 Willowwood, Joseph E. Weikert, 23, of Columbus, and Darren C. Sharp, 42, of 2761 Sunset Ave., Springfield, were arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail.
All three men are expected to be arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court today, Feb. 5.
Information from the sheriff’s office shows between Jan. 29 and Feb. 3, the office received two theft complaints from Morgan Automotive Parts, 2646 Rocket Ave. The complaints showed someone had entered the business’s yard and stole auto parts and metal.
After an investigation, detectives located several pieces of stolen property that the suspects reportedly sold to other businesses for scrap.
The suspects were located Thursday in the 2700 block of Sunset Avenue, where they were arrested on various charges, as well as criminal and traffic warrants, according to information from the sheriff’s office.
Welty was arrested on three charges of receiving stolen property and one charge of domestic violence. Weikert was arrested on two charges of receiving stolen property and one charge of complicity to receiving stolen property. Sharp was arrested on charges that include complicity to receiving stolen property, failure to reinstate, fictitious plates and failure to display.
