A Springfield man was arrested at gunpoint late Wednesday, Feb. 3, after he was accused of keeping a woman in a car against her will and leading police on a chase that reached speeds of about 90 miles per hour.
Ryan K. Turton, 29, of 1521 Uplands Drive, was arrested on charges of abduction, failure to comply, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension and driving without a seatbelt. He was placed in the Clark County Jail.
According to a report by the Springfield Police Division, officers received a 911 call at 10:45 p.m. in which a woman was asking for help. The report shows police located the car Turton was driving, but instead of stopping, he fled, and led police on a chase that reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. At times, a woman was seen trying to get out of the car, but Turton would not allow it, according to the report.
Police followed the car, and according to the report, Turton lost control of the car and crashed into a yard in the 3000 block of Uplands Drive.
The report shows he then fled on foot to a home on Parkridge Drive, where he crawled under a minivan. Police ordered Turton out from under the vehicle at gunpoint and arrested him.
