Shooting victim identified, no one arrested in incident

SPRINGFIELD — A man who was shot on West Clark Street Tuesday night, Nov. 17, has been identified as Martel D. Owens, 26, of 621 S. Fountain Ave., according to a police report.

Owens was shot in the lower back and knee, according to a police report.

He was taken by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. Information about his condition was not available Wednesday.

The shooting happened in an alley east of 532 W. Clark St. just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Owens was taken by ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center, High Street Campus, where he was later picked up by helicopter.

No arrests have been made and police continue their investigation.

Shell casings were located at the scene along with some personal effects, Springfield Police Division Chief Stephen Moody said Tuesday.

Crime scene technicians and robbery homicide investigators were called to assist officers.
