Police: Man suffers hammer assault

A 33-year-old man was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center with severe head wounds after being hit multiple times with a hammer early Saturday morning, police said.

The man told Springfield police he went to the kitchen of his home to get his girlfriend’s brother a drink when the suspect, age 20 to 23, approached him from behind and hit him with the hammer in the head and neck, according to the report.

He did not know why her brother might attack him, he said.

His girlfriend reportedly fled the home on the 600 block of West Euclid Avenue during the attack.

Frozen dinners taken in burglary

Eight frozen TV dinners were taken from a home on the 1000 block of Summer Street between 1 and 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a Springfield police report.

The victim said he found the home’s sliding door open and the dinners missing. There was no sign of forced entry and the door lock appeared to be working.

Two with warrants arrested

Two 20-year-old men at a Springfield Twp. party were arrested for alcohol-related warrants and additional charges by Clark County Sheriff’s deputies early Saturday morning, according to a press release.

Michael Lowe Jr., 20, of 230 E. Grand Ave., Springfield, had an active warrant for failure to comply with an original charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel Reed, 20, of 1320 Richmoor Road, Moorefield Twp., had an active failure to appear warrant for underage consumption/possession of alcohol.

Both were found hiding in the basement of the 315 Larchmont Drive home with a third person.

Deputies determined the two had consumed alcohol, charged each with an additional underage consumption/possession of alcohol charge and placed them in Clark County Jail.

They are expected to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. today in Springfield Municipal Court.
