Neighbor finds toddler on porch
A Clark County woman was charged with child endangering after her 2-year-old child was found on a neighbor’s porch at 11 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, a woman at 63 Todd Lee Drive said she found a small child on her porch after hearing a loud thump about 11 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found the child was only wearing a diaper and a T-shirt. At the time, the temperature outside was 28 degrees, according to a news release.
Deputies located the mother of the child, Billie A. Eason, asleep in her residence at 53 Todd Lee Drive. Deputies learned that the family went to bed about 9 p.m., and later that night, another child awoke to find the door open, but closed it and went back to bed without notifying his mother.
The door had been locked, but the toddler unlocked the door, according to a release.
The child was checked at the scene for hypothermia and a small bump to his head.
Eason was charged with one count of endangering children. She will appear in Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13. Clark County Children Services will follow up with the case, according to the release.
