SPRINGFIELD — A man was taken by helicopter to a Dayton hospital, Tuesday, Nov. 17, after he suffered a gunshot wound to th leg and back in an alley east of 532 W. Clark St.

The victim has been identified as Martel Owens, 26, of 621 S. Fountain Ave. He was taken by ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center, High Street Campus, where he was picked up by helicopter.

The police had no suspects at the time of the shooting, which took place shortly after 6 p.m. No one had been arrested a of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“We’re really in the early stages of this,” Moody said, as officers marked shell casings in the alley.

“There’s a couple of shell casings here we have located along with some personal effects,” he said.

Crime scene technicians and robbery homicide investigators were called to assist officers.

“Hopefully we’ll get some cooperation in the neighborhood,” he said. “A lot of good people live in this neighborhood.”
