Matthew Foster, 25, was captured by Springfield police shortly before 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 hiding in the yard of 1509 W. Jefferson St.

  Firefighters worked for nearly 45 minutes to rescue the driver of a semi-truck after the truck collided with a car on westbound I-70 in Clark County and drove off the US 68 overpass crashing onto the highway below Saturday, June 18.

• Pedestrian fatally struck

  A pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday, night, May 4, on South Yellow Springs Street near Leffel Lane. James Pierce, 37, of Springfield was identified by family at the scene. The Springfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.

  Authorities were looking Saturday night, April 16, 2011, for the unidentified driver suspected of striking Lucas Fowler, 21, in front of the Horseshoe Sports Bar, 3520 National Road about 8:43 p.m., Clark County Sheriff's deputies said.

• Samuel Littleton sentenced
  4/14/11

  Samuel Littleton II, who is a suspect in the murder of Tiffany Brown and the ad of Richard and Gladis Russell, was captured by police in West Virginia on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. The search for the bodies of the Russells took place in Chattanooga, Tenn.

• Shooting on N. Fountain
  3/6/11

  The Springfield Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 11 p.m. Saturday night at the corner of Cecil Street and North Fountain Boulevard. Witnesses reported that a 21-year-old male who lived in one of the buildings at the intersection appeared to have a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center's High Street campus. Springfield police cordoned off a building at 1002 N. Fountain Ave.

  The community gathered to pay respects to murder victim Tiffany L. Brown during her visitation at Bellefontaine First Church of God on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

• 361 dogs, cats taken from shelter

  Officials with the Clark County Humane Society and Clark County Combined Health District prepared to move 361 dogs and cats from a shelter on Lower Valley Pike on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The animals, in varying degrees of health, had been kept in hog barns on the property.

  Up to three investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation search through an area about 1 square are and approximately 15 feet deep for clues in finding a missing Bellefontaine couple on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at the Rumpke Landfill in Colerain Twp., Hamilton County.

• Chief Master Sgt. William C. Gurney

  The former top enlisted airman of the Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Chief Master Sgt. William C. Gurney, is facing trial on sexual misconduct and other allegations.

• Rev. Trammell indicted

  The Rev. Raleigh Trammell turned himself in to authorities Friday, Jan. 14, 2011. He faced one count of grand theft, 25 counts of forgery, and 25 counts of tampering with government records.

• Shots fired near high school

  Clark County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the 4000 block of Penny Pike early Friday, Jan. 14. No one was injured during the incident, and authorities said they had the situation under control in about an hour.

  The funeral for Clark County Sheriff Deputy Suzanne Waughtel Hopper took place on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011. The gunman was killed, and a German Twp. police officer was wounded, in a shootout at the Enon Beach trailer park Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011.

• Patrolman shot at Enon Beach

Several have not been published by the Springfield News-Sun before today out of concern over the impact of the images on the officer involved. The officer, German Twp. Patrolman Jeremy Blum, said he had no objection to them being published after he was released Tuesday from Miami Valley Hospital. Blum received treatment for shotgun pellet wounds to his shoulder, injuries he received during Saturday's shootout at Enon Beach in which Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Suzanne Hopper and her suspected killer, Michael L. Ferryman, died.

  One person was taken into custody following a robbery at Fifth Third Bank on 2700 N. Limestone St. shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010. This heist was the 7th bank robbery in the area this year.

  Members of the Springfield Police Division's Special Operations Team conducted a raid on a home in the 200 block of South Plum Street Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010. At least one person was taken into custody after the execution of the search warrant.
