SPRINGFIELD — Investigators are searching for a motorist who led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday.
Officers attempted a traffic stop around 5 a.m. on a truck that matched the description of one that had been reported stolen, said Capt. Jim Hutchins, Springfield Police Division.
The pursuit began in the area of Selma Road and Homeview Avenue after the driver of the truck fled from officers, reaching speeds of 45 to 60 mph, said Hutchins.
“He weaved in and out of some streets and later fled on foot,” said Hutchins.
The car chase ended at Rebert Pike where the suspect abandoned the truck and fled into a wooded area.
Officials with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit.
Further details were not available as officials cited an ongoing investigation.
