SPRINGFIELD — Jeff Ebner was hit on the head while he was down, a crime scene investigator testified Wednesday, July 21, in the trial of Willie Anderson.

Anderson, 43, is accused of Ebner’s murder during an alleged attempted robbery at his family business in 2008.

Ebner suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died the following day.

Special Agent Savalas Kidd, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, testified about the evidence he collected from the scene and what he believed transpired there.

Ebner sustained “multiple” blows, some to the back of his head,” Kidd testified.

“Mr. Ebner was down on the ground when these blows were administered,” said Kidd.

In his cross-examination, defense attorney James Griffin suggested the possibility that Ebner was attacked by more than one person.

“You can’t tell us how many people were in there ... when these blows were administered,” Griffin said.

Anderson is charged with aggravated murder, three counts of murder, two counts each of aggravated robbery and felonious assault and one count of tampering with evidence.

If convicted on all charges, Anderson could be sentenced to life in prison.

Testimony is expected to continue Thursday in Clark County Common Pleas Judge Richard O’Neill’s courtroom.
