URBANA — An elderly man and his two sons have been arraigned on charges that they had sexual contact with juveniles.
Jarrod B. Gibson, 33, and Junior B. Gibson, 79, of 346 Hill St., were arraigned in Champaign County Municipal Court on Tuesday, March 16. The third man, James Gibson, 41, was arraigned on March 12.
The three were indicted by a Champaign County grand jury earlier this month on several charges that they had sexual relations with an underage girl.
According to his indictment, Jarrod Gibson faces nine counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He appeared without an attorney, and prosecutors said his arraignment will be continued on March 22. He was released on his own recognizance, on the condition that he not have any contact with the juvenile involved in the case, or his co-defendants.
Junior Gibson faces three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of compelling prostitution and three counts of sexual imposition, according to his indictment. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 31, according to prosecutors. He was also released on his own recognizance on the condition that he not have contact with juveniles, the girl in the case, a juvenile witness involved in the case, or his co-defendants. Scott Calaway, a Dayton attorney, was appointed to represent him in court.
Prosecutors said James Gibson, 41, was arraigned earlier this month and faces one count each of rape, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and gross sexual imposition. Prosecutors said he was already on probation on a separate case. His probation was revoked, and he is being held in the Tri-County Jail.
A pretrial hearing is set for James Gibson today, March 17, but he will not appear in court. Todd Brecount, an Urbana attorney, will represent him in court.
