SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Two small children are uninjured after the car they were riding in was forced off the road, flipping and landing on its top early Thursday, Sept. 2.
The children, a 6-month-old boy and 4-year-old girl, were both strapped in their seats and weren’t hurt, said Sgt. Terry Bush, Ohio Highway Patrol.
The driver, Sheilah Jones, 21, and her passenger, Janella Green, 31, both of Indiana, sustained non life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from Springfield Regional Medical Center, High Street campus.
The crash happened as Jones was driving east in the right lane on Interstate 70 near state Route 72 at 1:49 a.m. A semi driving in the left lane alongside the vehicle attempted a lane change and forced the car off the road, said Bush.
The car flipped several times and landed on its top.
The semi driver, Kathy Lou McFarland, 53, of Virginia, wasn’t injured. She was cited for unsafe lane change, said Bush.
