Woman pulled on railroad tracks, raped


A 19-year-old Springfield woman said she was grabbed off the street, pulled down some railroad tracks and raped.

The woman told police she was walking southbound on North Belmont Street near James Street early Sunday morning just before 4 a.m. when the man approached her.

The man pulled her to the tracks in the 1500 block of Warder Street in Springfield.

She was able to get away and was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment. The suspect is described is a black male wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans. The man is not in custody.
