Suspect similar in string of Springfield robberies

A drive-through business was robbed Friday for the second time this week in a string of unsolved armed crimes.

Doc’s Drive-Thru, 908 W. North St., was targeted by a masked armed robber at about 3 p.m.

A masked gunman fitting the same description robbed the same business Tuesday afternoon, according to Springfield police and store employees.

Early Wednesday, a robber matching the same description pulled a gun on a clerk at the Speedway on East Main Street.

In all three incidents, the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said investigators are looking at the possibility that the same man is responsible for those three and other recent armed robberies.

The robber, who wore a black mask, was described as white, age 45 to 55.The victim in one of the robberies said the assailant stutters and appears to be on a speed-type drug.
