Springfield PD report: $450 taken from unconscious hospital patient

Springfield police are investigating whether someone used a bank card to spend more than $450 that wasn’t theirs.

Police received a complaint at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. A woman told officers her uncle had suffered a major stroke and was unresponsive. However, his bank card was being used in Springfield.

“While (he) was in the hospital, his PNC bank card was used in the Springfield area 14 times,” a police report says. “The total valued charged on (his) bank card was $460.64.”

The woman said she called PNC to report the card stolen.

A suspect was identified in the report but no arrests have been made. The report says police are continuing to investigate the allegations.
