Springfield pharmacy robbed at gunpoint, narcotics stolen

A Springfield pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint and multiple bottles of prescription narcotics were stolen, according to a police report.

A man entered the Rite-aid pharmacy at 1805 S. Limestone St. about 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and allegedly pointed a gun at the pharmacy counter and told an employee to step back.

The man then jumped the counter, pointed the gun at both employees working in the pharmacy and demanded narcotics. One of the employees and the man began placing narcotics into a trash bag, the report said.

The man then exited through the back door and fled down East Singer Street.

A video of the alleged incident is expected to be delivered to police, the report said.
