Springfield man accused of sexually assaulting 3 year old

A Springfield man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old child.

Kenneth Sammons has been charged with gross sexual imposition, domestic violence and assault in connection to an alleged incident at the Drake Motel in October 2016. Authorities recently arrested Sammons and he appeared in Clark County Municipal Court on Monday morning for an arraignment.

Sammons pleaded not guilty to the charges and his bond was set at $25,000.

Clark County Deputy Debra Strileckyj wrote in an affidavit that she responded to a call and spoke with a witness. The witness told her that she, Sammons and the 3-year-old allegedly were sleeping in the same bed at the Drake Motel when she felt the bed shake.

“She pulled back the blankets and saw Sammons completely naked,” the report says.

The affidavit says the child was sleeping and Sammons allegedly was knowingly assaulting the child.

“She pushed him away from the child and confronted his actions,” the report says. “The defendant forced her to drive him to a friend’s house on Euclid Avenue. Upon arrival to Euclid Avenue, the defendant punched (her) in the head and face while she and the child were in the vehicle.”

The woman then drove to a friends home nearby to report the incident, the affidavit says.
