Williams was charged with failure to comply, improper handling of weapons in a motor vehicle, weapons under disability, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. He was also cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension, reckless operation and failure to control.

He pleaded not guilty in Clark County Municipal Court on Monday and his bond was set at more than $25,000.

Police alleged Williams was intoxicated at the time and also struck another vehicle while fleeing police, which began shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to court records, police were headed south on Fountain Avenue near Warder Street when they saw a GMC Yukon driving recklessly and heard peeling tires. The vehicle drove left of center, nearly striking a police car head on.

Police said Williams then headed north, illegally passed a vehicle on the right, then crossed a double yellow line and struck another vehicle in the rear before turning east onto College Avenue. Police finally stopped Williams near Limestone Street and took him into custody.

A witness also told Wittenberg University Police that he allegedly saw Williams throw a handgun from the driver’s side window of his vehicle after turning onto College Avenue.

Court records show the gun was a loaded Glock 30 that had been reported stolen during a burglary in Clark County.
