The girl has been suspended for the maximum 10 days with a recommendation for expulsion, Dayton Public Schools spokeswoman Jill Mobereley said.
Principal Kenneth Kraemer sent home letters to parents Monday telling them what happened and what additional security measures were being taken this week.
“This additional security will continue for the next few days,” Kraemer said in the letter. “All threats to our school or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We wanted you to have the facts so you can discuss them with your child and emphasize the seriousness of the issue.”
Belmont school leaders and officials with the district’s Office of Safety and Security worked closely with police Friday to identify the student and make the arrest, Moberley said.
