Robbery try reported on North Race Street


Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery Tuesday night outside a house in the 300 block of North Race Street.

According to preliminary reports from the Springfield Police Division, as many as four to eight shots were fired in the incident that involved two victims.

Details were still coming together at 10:30 p.m., but an alert was issued to police to be on the lookout for a blue or gray Buick Roadmaster carrying several children.

No one was hit by the gunfire, according to police, and the assailant was believed to be a male.

Police were in the area of the reported incident, looking for shell casings and other evidence.

No other details were immediately available.
