St. Paris man pleads not guilty to rape of a child

A St. Paris man entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to three counts each of rape of a victim under 10 and gross sexual imposition during an arraignment hearing at the Champaign County Common Pleas Court.

Matthew Corwin, 30, who has been released on his own recognizance, must wear an electronic monitor on his ankle. In addition, he is restricted from contact with any child under 18 and all Internet devices must be removed from his residence, according to court records.

Corwin was indicted by a grand jury on the six charges on March 6. The abuse occurred between Sept. 1, 2012 and Sept. 16, 2013, according to court documents.

A man contacted the Champaign County Sheriff's Department in September to report possible inappropriate sexual contact between his son and Corwin.
