OVI checkpoints operating in Montgomery, Clark

OVI checkpoints in Montgomery and Clark counties on the night before Thanksgiving mean spot checks for dozens of holiday drivers.

The Montgomery County checkpoint, which began just after 7 p.m., continues until about 11 p.m. in Harrison Twp. on North Main Street near Lynnaway Drive.

The special traffic operation is being operated by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in partnership with police, troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol and members of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force.

The Clark County checkpoint, which started at about 7 p.m., is occurring in the 100 block of West North Street in Springfield.

Officers at both locations are checking drivers for alcohol and drug impairment as well as seat belt use.
