Medic, fire official indicted in separate sex cases

A man accused of sexually assaulting a Springfield woman while she was a sedated patient in his care and a Madison Twp. fire lieutenant in Clark County have been formally charged.

A Clark County grand jury indicted Samuel P. Conkel, 24, of Beavercreek, and Matthew J. Meyer, 33, of South Charleston, on Monday. Both face a single charge of gross sexual imposition.

Conkel worked an EMT for a patient transporting company, First Care Ohio. Investigators said he sexually assaulted a woman who was sedated while he attended her during a transport from Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton to a Southbrook Care Facility in Springfield, according to court records.

Meyer allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a female juvenile enrolled in the fire department's fire cadet program in which he was a supervisor.

Conkel was scheduled to be arraigned on the charge Thursday afternoon and Meyer is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge Friday morning, according to court records.

Neither man is listed as an inmate in the Clark County Jail, according to jail records.
