Man wounded in leg by gunfire


A man was transported to the hospital this morning after he was shot in the leg.

Medics responded to the 600 block of South Western Avenue near Davey Moore Park around 5:45 a.m. on a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Authorities said the man gave several stories about how the shooting occurred.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover.
