Man dies in crash on I-70 in Clark County

A 79-year-old Columbus man died in a crash on Interstate 70 in Clark County on Friday morning.

Jerry Banks was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when he drove a Toyota Rav 4 off the right side of the roadway and struck a fence shortly after 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol news release.

Banks was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, the report says.

A passenger, Bernice Banks, wasn’t injured.

Authorities don’t expect alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash and it remains under investigation, the news release says.
