The man taken into custody was running out of the apartment in the 300 block of Lannert Avenue when police arrived. A woman with him was detained but not arrested.

According to Springfield police, three people were in a basement who called police to report hearing yelling and someone breaking in. However, two people upstairs told police nothing happened.
The man arrested was identified as Tony Q. Jackson, 55, of Dayton.
FIRST REPORT
Occupants inside a Springfield apartment reported a man broke in and told everyone he was going to kill them.
"As the officers got there, a male was trying to flee the scene on foot," Springfield police Lt. Jeff Williams said.

Officers were able to take the man into custody. A female also was taken into custody, and police recovered a gun.
The call came in at 10:05 p.m. to the apartment in the 300 block of Lannert Ave., Williams said.

Police are interviewing everyone involved so there is no further information on the incident, nor the names and potential charges of the suspects taken into custody, Williams said.
