Former Wittenberg professor acquitted of rape in 2013 killed in Florida

A former Wittenberg professor who was acquitted of rape in Clark County in 2013 was killed in a knife and hammer attack near Tampa, Florida, according to a report from the Miami Herald.

Hollant Maxford Adrien, 56, was killed last week after a 20-year-old man told police the former professor was making unwanted sexual advances near a Manatee County industrial park, the report said.

Barry Baer told detectives Adrien had picked him up and drove him to a dead end at the park, where the 56-year-old’s body was found, the Miami Herald reported.

Baer said he took out a knife he used for regular protection and stabbed Adrien in the neck and then during a struggle outside the vehicle, struck Adrien 40 to 45 times in the head, according to the report.

In February 2013, Adrien was found not guilty after being accused in the August 2012 rape and kidnapping of a 19-year-old disabled man. The university fired Adrien a couple of months before his trial.
