Driver ignores cyclist sticking through his windshield

Man arrested on "suspicion" of driving drunk

Steven Gove had just finished delivering newspapers and was headed home when he was hit by the suspected drunk driver.

Gove remained conscious but most of his body had gone through the windshield. When the driver didn’t even look his way Steven said "hello, I'm the guy you hit on the bicycle."

HTR media says the driver seemed to be unaware that Steven was doubling as a hood ornament. Oblivious, he ran a stop sign and hit another car before pulling into his driveway.

That’s when he finally realized his hood ornament was a living guy.

He looked at me and said: 'Who are you? What are you doing in the car?'"

Gove said that sent the driver over the edge and he began "freaking out" about possibly going to jail.

But it wasn’t enough for the guy to help Gove.

The driver got out, locked the car, and went into his house as though nothing was wrong.

Realizing he had no other options, Gove pulled himself the rest of the way into the car.

"I righted myself and got out." he began. Steven then "unlocked the passenger's side door and started walking down the street.”

A person who had seen the accident had called police, who found Gove and took him to a hospital where glass was removed from his eyes and he was treated for cuts and bruises.

Cops arrested the driver for suspicion of DUI, hit and run causing injury, and failure to render aid.

Steven is doing well and says he’ll be back to work this week.
