Downtown Springfield business vandalized

Vandals sprayed fire extinguisher, damaged sign in EF Hutton lobby.

An unknown person vandalized the sixth floor lobby of the EF Hutton Tower this week, spraying the floor and bathrooms with a fire extinguisher and ripping parts of the EF Hutton sign from the lobby wall.

The vandal caused other damage, according to a Springfield Police Division report, including writing, “Wall St. sucks,” on the lobby floor using an unknown orange substance.

The suspect also broke a bottle on the floor of the break room. Police took photos of the scene and collected other evidence.

The police report says the suspect is unknown.

Despite the damage, company leaders said they will move on and are confident someone will be charged.

“We’ll just deal with it,” said Chris Daniels, president and CEO of EF Hutton. “They have evidence that they believe will lead to resolution of the case. It’s unfortunate. Everybody in Springfield has been wonderful.”

Daniels also said police have video of the incident. STAFF REPORT
