Columbus man accused of stealing private ambulance in Springfield

A Columbus man was arrested after he allegedly stole an ambulance from a private transportation company in Springfield.

Corey L. Brobst, 27, of 1308 Huron Ave., Columbus, has been charged with one count of theft, according to a police report. He’s expected to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Springfield Police Division officers were sent to the 400 block of North Yellow Springs Street at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday on a report of an ambulance being stolen. Officers saw the ambulance traveling on South Yellow Springs Street and made a traffic stop on West Pleasant Street.

Brobst was then allegedly removed from the ambulance and placed into custody. He allegedly told police he was sorry for taking the ambulance and “that he just wanted to go to home to see his son.”

The owner did not give Brobst permission to drive the vehicle, the report said.

Brobst was placed in the Clark County Jail.
