Ex-Clark County deputy jailed on sex charges

A former Clark County sheriff’s deputy jailed Tuesday evening on charges involving sex with a minor is due in court Wednesday for his initial appearance on those charges.

Dustin William Hensley, 30, was arrested at about 5:35 p.m. in the 100 block of West Second Street, and booked into the county jail at 7:29 p.m.

He’s being detained on single felony counts of sexual battery - parent or guardian and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, according to online jail records.

Sheriff Gene Kelly, contacted Tuesday night, would say only that the minor involved was not under Hensley’s care and that Hensley resigned Tuesday.

Kelly said he thinks Hensley began with the sheriff’s office in 2001 as a dispatcher, later becoming a sworn deputy.

Kelly, who also said the investigation related to the case is continuing, offered that he would make further statements Wednesday after Hensley is arraigned.
