TROY — North senior Lee Dixon did not lose a game in qualifying for his third district meet at the Division I boys sectional tennis tournament at Troy Community Park and Troy High School on Friday, May 16.

The top-seeded Dixon went to deuce only one time while dispatching Diego Hernandez, of Wayne, Drew Chestnut, of Northmont and Clinton Denlinger, of Piqua.

"Dixon had a lot of aces in the first match, played placement tennis in the third match and had a lot of winners throughout." said Panthers coach John Woodburn.

Dixon, who went 17-1 in first singles in the regular season, also qualified for districts in 2005 and 2006. Dixon will face No. 4 seed Gabe Spagnola, of Troy, in the sectional semifinals at 9 a.m. today, May 17. The sectional finals are scheduled for noon.

North's double team of Rohit Nezhad and Krishna Vellanki fell one victory short of qualifying for districts. Nezhad and Vellanki defeated Garrett Magoto and Brent Tingley, of South, and Matt Daniel and Brandon Davenport, of Trotwood-Madison, before falling to No. 3 seed Brandon Eikenberry and Lawrence Flowers, of Northmont, 6-4, 6-0 in the third round.

"Nezhad had a lot of aces, but they were outplayed at the net," said Woodburn.
