Few OSU products on NFL draft shelf
Buckeyes may have only two players selected this year — their lowest total since 1998.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State churns out NFL draft choices with regularity, and the school set a seven-round record with a whopping 14 picks in 2004.
But after having eight players drafted last year and nine the year before, the Buckeyes may have only two this time, which would be their lowest total since being shut out in 1998.

Three players who would have been seniors in this class exited a year early (Ted Ginn Jr., Anthony Gonzalez and Antonio Pittman), and some juniors who could have turned pro stayed another season (James Laurinaitis and Malcolm Jenkins).
Defensive end Vernon Gholston and offensive tackle Kirk Barton likely will be the only Buckeyes drafted this weekend, although linebacker Larry Grant and fullback Dionte Johnson are getting some looks.
Gholston is considered a top-10 pick, and draft expert Jerry Jones sees Barton as a probable late-round selection.
"He's a tough kid, pretty consistent in his game. And that'll get you drafted," Jones said.
