Clubs and Organizations

Today, Feb. 17

11:45 a.m. — The Springfield Kiwanis Club holds their luncheon meeting at the St. Johns Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 27 N. Wittenberg Ave. The luncheon program will be presented by Mary Wineberg an Olympic Champion. Guests are welcome, members expected.

Noon — The Exchange Club meets at Linardo's Villa. Guest speaker will be Pam Meermans of the Child Advocacy Center.

1 p.m. — Retired and current railroaders of all crafts, spouses and widows of retired railroaders meet at Golden Corral, Bechtle Avenue.

1 p.m. — Springfield Toastmasters Club meets at City Hall in the Forum Room. Meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome. For more information contact Marilyn Burchett at (937) 324-6906 or visit www.d40toastmasters.org.

4 p.m.—SMHA's Board of Commissioners holds a regular meeting and public hearing on Amending Annual Plan at 1900 Huron Ave., Lincoln Park Community Center's Community Room.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

10 a.m. — The UAW Local 402 Retirees Chapter meets at the Local 402 unon hall, 3671 N. Urbana Road. Retiree spouses and surviving spouses are invited. Refreshments are available.

11:30 a.m. — Springfield Club meets at Northwood Hills Country Club. Hostessess will be Millie Lyon and Pauline Smith.

Noon — The Chapter DZ of P.E.O. Sisterhood meets at Locust Hills Golf Course. Hostess will be Jan Knuckey. Co-hostesses will be Sharon Hockman and Barbara Weaver. Project recipients will be the program.

Thursday, Feb, 19

10:30 a.m. — The Clark County Retired Teachers Association holds an Information Fair at the Courtyard by Marriott. A business meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Cost for the luncheon is $13. Tom Stafford of the Springfield News-Sun will be the featured luncheon speaker.

1 p.m. — The Teamster Retiree Club meets at Porches on North Limestone St. Members and spouses welcome.

1:30 p.m. — Chapter 620 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart holds their monthly meeting at DAV Chapter 13.

Saturday, Feb. 21

Noon—The Springfield Chapter of The Links, Incorporated meets at the Holiday Inn. Marlene Goodwin will host the meeting.

Sunday, Feb. 22

2:30 p.m. — The February program of the Springfield Fortnightly musical club will be held at the Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Road. The program will feature two musical ensembles from Greenon High School. The Royal Sound Ensemble, a 32 mixed group of students in grades 10-12 and the Royal Sensation Ensemble, a group of 28 females. Both are directed by Robbie Ponce.

Public Meetings

Today, Feb. 17

1 p.m. — The Clark County LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) holds its first regular quarterly meeting of 2009 at the OSU Extension Office, 4400 Gateway Blvd., Springfield.

3:30 p.m.—The Tecumseh Local LPDC Committee meets in the Special Education Conference room at Tecumseh Middle School, 10000 W. National Road, New Carlisle.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

6:30 p.m. — The Springfield Academy of Excellence Governing Board meets in the Fellowship Hall at the Church of Jesus Family Worship Center, 623 S. Center St., Springfield. The Board will hold a Strategic Planning session following the meeting.

Thursday, Feb. 19

8:30 a.m. — The Board of Veterans Service Commissioners meets at 120 S. Center St.

7 p.m. —The Enon Legislative Committee meets at the Enon Government Center, 363 East Main St., Enon. The purpose of this meeting is to continue discussing "Rules of Council." Any interested person or party is welcome to attend and be heard at this meeting.

Benefits and Fundraisers

Saturday, Feb. 21

7 p.m. — A Bluegrass Spectacular will be held at South Vienna Middle School, 140 W. Main St., South Vienna. Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers and Billie Renee and Cumberland Gap will perform. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds will go to the technology fund at South Vienna Middle School.
