Clark, Champaign counties for capping payday interest rates, against casino

SPRINGFIELD — Clark and Champaign counties followed state trends and were strongly for capping payday lending interest rates and strongly against casino gambling Tuesday, Nov. 4
Clark voters went 38,562 to 21,573 in final, unoffical votes for Issue 5 which capped short term loan interest rates at 28 percent, down from 391 percent. Champaign County went 10,903 to 6,781 to cap rates.
Issue 6, which would have paved the way for a casino near Wilmington, failed 34,987 to 26,777 in Clark County. Champaign County voted 11,238 to 7,104 against the proposal.
