Extras
McCarty was driving her 2005 Honda north in the 2500 block of U.S. 68 just before 1 p.m. when a 1994 GMC pickup truck, driven south by Jarrod Albert, 20, of Alger, slowed down to make a left turn into the Econo Lodge, 2551 S. U.S. 68, Champaign County Sheriff Brent Emmons said.
Albert turned in front of McCarty's vehicle, causing the collision, Emmons said.
Albert's passenger, Megan Salyer, 20, of Alger, was taken by medic to Urbana's Mercy Memorial Hospital. Her condition was unknown.
Albert refused treatment at the scene, Emmons said, adding that Albert was cited with failure to yield.
